3 Uncommon Ways To Save On Your Electric Bill
Turn off your lights, right? Of course! Everybody knows that! But here are some tips that you might not already know.
- Turn off that WiFi network! I mean, really. Must you have those wavelengths going through the air every moment of the day and night? I don’t think your dreams require an Internet connection, so go ahead and power off your wireless router when it’s not in use. You’ll save loads of electricity and money too!
- Check with your electric company to make sure they’re reading the right meter! I’ve heard horror stories of the meter people (is that what you call them?) reading the wrong meter . . . charging you more money than you rightfully owe! Don’t let this happen to you. Check the meter yourself and see how much electricity you’re actually using. You can also simply call your electric company to confirm that you are being billed for the correct meter.
- Keep in mind that your hot water may come from an electric heater. Check the settings on your dishwater as most manufactures add an “extra hot” button that usually isn’t necessary. Also, washing clothes in hot water will both use more energy and be harder on your clothes than washing them in warm or cold water. When the time comes to purchase new appliances, be sure that they are Energy Star compliant. Thanks to Courtney (my beautiful wife) for her abundant knowledge on this topic and more!
Three simple tips. Got them down? You’ll save money and use less energy. How about yourself? Do you have any unusual tips on saving electricity or other resources? Leave a comment below (on The Christian Dollar website if you’re reading this in an email subscription)!
