How Rich Are You? Test Yourself!

You may not think of yourself as wealthy, but if you’re reading this on a computer right now, you’re probably one of the wealthiest people around. The mere fact that you have a computer makes you pretty rich, wouldn’t you say?

Now What?

It’s humbling when you find out that you’re among the richest people in the world, isn’t it?

The first thing this should remind us to do is give. We need to be giving of our wealth (and our time) to help those who aren’t as fortunate as we are.

But it doesn’t stop there.

You’ve heard the saying that it’s better to teach a person to fish than to give them a fish, right? I think that applies in this case as well. If we’re wealthy, perhaps we should make ourselves available to those who aren’t and be willing to teach them how we did it. Of course, we need to do this with humility and the understanding that we don’t know it all.

Then again, it could just be because we were born in a wealthy nation – what do you think?

I think the fact that we’re wealthy puts an additional burden on us to manage our finances well (did somebody say the word, “budget?”). How shameful would it be to waste money left and right in the view of those who hardly make $10 a day?

I don’t think any one of us will ever live up to our potential to give or to manage our money with wisdom, but we can sure try! So let’s go and make a difference!
