10 Gifts Your Husband Will Love
Men shop in a different way than women – you know it’s true! Women enjoy browsing whereas men find shopping stressful and a waste of time. Men walk into the store with one item in mind and walk right back out after purchasing that item. Their shopping approach is logical and minimalistic. Women appreciate the sentimentality of the gift, where men appreciate the usefulness of the gift. He’ll tell you he likes the printed vacation album, but he’ll end up using the album as a coffee coaster.
The practical men in our lives might forget to buy themselves underwear, socks and toothpaste. While those are good gift ideas, let’s go above and beyond to help them out this Christmas – whether shopping online for deals or in store – with these manly gift ideas. By the way, these are great gift ideas for any special occasion!
1. Watch
This is a piece worth investing in. A classic, silver design will last him for years to come. Women wear lots of jewelry, but men only get a few pieces. A watch is a great way to polish a man’s outfit. And who doesn’t need to know what time it is?
2. Flannel Shirt
Keep him warm this winter in a fashionable plaid flannel to wear under a leather jacket with dark wash jeans. A puffy vest is another fashion forward option. You won’t be the only one looking nice at dinner!
3. Tennis Shoes
Comfortable, reliable shoes are so underrated. He’ll thank you when his feet don’t hurt after a long work day. If he’s required to wear dress shoes for his job, begin the hunt for comfortable ones. If he likes the look of a pair, but not the feel, some insoles will do the trick.
4. New Music
The commute to work will be a little easier on him with some new music to listen to. Be bold by buying a new CD or let him choose with a gift card.
5. Movies
Search DVD bins at your favorite retailer. That way, he’ll be able to watch movies he owns over and over again (without paying expensive rental fees). If he needs to catch up on his favorite TV shows, consider getting him a subscription to Netflix (see review). Action, explosions, stunts, oh my!
6. Massage Coupon from You
Many men won’t admit it, but they like to be pampered, too. They don’t like to be touched by other men, but they’d appreciate some love from you. Throw in some massage oil for a nice touch.
7. Tickets to an Event
Does he like music? Search for an upcoming concert of a favorite band. Does he like drama? Check out a Broadway play. Does he like to laugh? Go see a stand-up comedian. When the date of the event arrives after Christmas, it will feel like Christmas all over again. Go to dinner beforehand and enjoy a date night together.
8. Sports Apparel
Guys tend to pick a favorite clothing item and wear it repeatedly: a baseball cap, hoodie, t-shirt, etc. Grab an item of his favorite sports team and you’ll have to buy it again for him next year because it will have holes in it and probably smell . . . ha!
9. Body Spray
Cologne is expensive and is only used for special occasions. Body spray is less expensive, easier to apply, and smells fantastic. It’s also a less concentrated scent for sensitive noses. It’s a present for him and for you!
10. Hobby-Related Gear
Every guy is different. Encourage him by showing him that you not only acknowledge his passions, but you support them. For example, my husband loves chess and playing guitar so I would give him chess clocks and guitar picks. Is he a writer? Buy him a leather-bound notebook and a ballpoint pen in a special case. Is he an outdoorsman? Equipment galore would be much appreciated (canteen, flashlight, tent, etc.).
This holiday season is sure to be special if you’re more excited about the giving than the receiving. What will you give your husband?
