6 Frugal Winter Beauty Tips You’ll Love

Winter brings Christmas, cheer and snow, but it also brings dry skin and chapped lips. The cold temperatures aren’t kind to our skin. Even when we moisturize with expensive lotions, little flakes appear to make us uncomfortable, itchy, and self-conscience. And costly make-up can’t hide it. These frugal tips will help battle the winter beauty blahs. You deserve an at-home spa day that will leave you feeling refreshed from head to toe.

1. Face

In a small container, add a 1/2 teaspoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Mix together with your finger. Dampen your face with warm water. Scoop up some of the face scrub in your fingers and massage gently on your face. Make sure to scrub everywhere that is vulnerable to dry skin. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a soft towel.

Finish the exfoliation with your favorite lotion. This solution is much cheaper than the face scrubs you’ll find in stores. You probably have the ingredients on hand and can mix the two together only when you need it. The smell of the honey is relaxing and brown sugar granules are just gentle enough when you’re massaging your face.

2. Eyes

After scrubbing and moisturizing, your eyes deserve a make-up treat. The latest trends present several options in the way you wear your eye liner. Cat eyes, smoky eyes and double-winged tips are just a few styles. If you’re experimenting with the color and consistency of your eye liner, you wouldn’t want to waste $40 on a pencil you won’t end up liking.

The Elf beauty line at Target has great products for great prices. For only $1 you get an eye liner pencil plus sharpener. If you like the liquid liner better, you’ll spend just $3.

3. Hair

Is your hair looking a little dull this cold season? Separate two eggs. Lightly whisk the egg yolks. Dampen your hair and apply 1/2 cup of the egg yolk for twenty minutes. Follow with a regular shampooing. By doing this once a month, your hair should be moisturized with extra shine.

4. Skin

If you’re looking a little paler than you’d like to, don’t pay for a tanning bed. For the cost it would take you for a twenty minute tanning bed session, you could buy a whole bottle of Jergen’s Natural Glow Moisturizer. It’s not a self-tanner, nor a bronzer so don’t worry about looking orange. Select the color that most matches your skin tone and it’s up to you how many times you want to apply it. It firms the skin and gives you a natural tint of color. For about $9 a bottle, your skin will tell you it’s worth it.

5. Nails

The best nail tool I’ll ever have is my cuticle cutter. You can purchase them for as little as $4 or you can get a salon-style cutter for closer to $10. Trimming your cuticles and the sides of your nails keeps them smooth. Using the proper tool instead of biting or pulling makes all the difference. Finish with your favorite color of nail polish or let your natural nails shine by themselves.

6. Lips

Chapstick can have a reputation for being sticky and smelly. It can rub off easily, too. And how many times do you have to apply it for it to work? The most perfect combination I’ve found for day is Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm. It costs more than the average chapstick, but the nine pretty tints add a feminine touch. It’s so lightweight that it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything. For night time, put on their original formula chapstick before you go to bed. Your lips will be moisturized while you sleep.

Chase away the cabin fever with these refreshing beauty tips. You’re always beautiful, so make sure you feel like it – while saving some money.
