Don’t Read This Article!!!

by John on April 9, 2010

You’re reading this article, aren’t you? What a curious thing. Here I told you specifically not to read it, yet you’re still reading it. Why?

Perhaps there’s a spot of rebellion in you that pushed you to read it. Maybe it was a hint of curiosity that overwhelmed you. Who knows what it was! But of course, I told you not to read this article for a reason. The purpose is to point out that there is something in our human nature that is flawed. We are seriously flawed creatures.

Everyone has turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. -Psalm 53:2-3 NIV

I think the Bible makes it clear. We are corrupt and are in need of a Savior. We need someone to take our place. We need Jesus the Messiah.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. -John 3:16-17 NIV

If we are going to get our lives right, our finances right, our health right, our relationships right, we need God’s help. We can’t do this alone! I know people who have read the Bible more times than I can count yet still don’t trust in God. The thing is that reading the Bible is not just an academic exercise, it is supposed to build our relationship with the Creator of the universe.

I’m writing about this today because I want to make sure we are keeping everything in perspective. Life is about God, God, and God again. We are not designed to merely depend on our brains and blogs for guidance. We need to be constantly seeking God’s will and God’s design for our lives.

I’m convinced that to win with finances and use money how God intended, we need to be ever-seeking a relationship with God.

This isn’t about you. This isn’t about me. This is about God. I hope that remains the overarching theme of The Christian Dollar, and that we never lose sight of our need for the Messiah.

Can I get an Amen?

Great, great post! I must admit, I clicked on it b/c you told me not to! ;) And I discipline my kids for doing the same thing! Anyways, you are right, to get ahead financially we must reach a point of surrender to our Great God and Savior!

You hit the nail on the head! All of the money in the world is God’s anyway. We can’t possibly be successful with money if we ignore the creator and owner of it. I learned of thechristiandollar after seeing one of your articles on christianpf. Keep up the good work!
